I'm just a Personal Trainer who wanted to go on a grand adventure.
My Freshman year of college I went to Big Bend National Park. It was my first park and first major road trip. I quickly realized there was no night life, and barely any cell service. You didn't have a chance to fill your free time with temporary distractions. I realized I had been so used to checking my phone, or browsing youtube when I felt bored. I always looked for a way to occupy my time. This trip changed that. I remember only focussing on what was in front of me, and who I was with. Every conversation had my full attention. Every stranger I met had the same mindset and genuine curiosity about each other. I truly felt reconnected to this planet and I've been chasing that feeling ever since.
I decided to build a van and take it around the US to every National Park! An experience I knew would come with all kinds of ups and downs. I know there will be times I'm bored, and lonely. I know I will miss my daily routines that have become second nature to me...Mostly I know I'll miss lifting heavy objects in the gym every day haha. Every day will bring something new on this trip. That alone is an experience I know I need to have.
Building a van was a huge learning curve for me. There were a lot of tools and skills I knew I wanted to master. I am no means an expert and messed up constantly. Please, if you have any questions of your own, reach out! I would love to tell you where I went wrong/right, and what I would do differently!
